FINALISED PROJECT IDEAS

Following my pitch on Monday, (23/10/2017) I will now be proceeding to make my seven-minute radio documentary, which is investigating the impact that Artificial Intelligence will have on the music industry in the future.

The title of my documentary will be Bitter Sweet A.I. Symphony, a play on words for the 1997 hit Bitter Sweet Symphony by The Verge. I wanted to keep my title short and to the point, while also making it topically relevant as my target radio station is Radio 1, specifically Radio 1 Stories.

As I mentioned in my previous blog post, my three main case studies which I hope to focus on are AI. Music, Amper Music and Jukedeck. Amper are already on-board and happy to help with my project which is great news. Over the next few weeks I will be speaking to Amper’s CEO/Co-Founder Drew Silverstein and Head of Sales Jaime Gillespie via Skype, which I am really looking forward to.

I have now decided on the three areas I want to explore in my documentary and have posed questions to tackle these issues:

Could music composers jobs be under threat in the future due to Amper/Jukedeck’s technology?

How badly will artists lose out on exposure if companies no longer include their tracks in their TV/Online adverts?

Could DJs/remix artists jobs be under threat in the future due to A.I. Music’s ‘shape-changing’ technology?

In order to provide balance I will also be getting the views of established composers and DJs, as well as those who are just starting out in the industry to find out how they feel about the rise of A.I. In the industry and whether they feel threatened.
